400 km far from the city of Lima is located the city of Huaraz (3090 meters above sea level), starting point to all tourist places of La Cordillera Blanca, the one that is regarded as the hightest tropical Cordillera in the world. Inside the Cordillera Blanca it is the Nacional Park Huascaran, declared by UNESCO as Natural Inheritance of the Humanity in 1985 and as a center of the Reserve of Biosphere in 1977. The Cordillera Blanca and Cordillera Negra form a long valley called Callejón de Huaylas the one that is 200 kilometers long. To the eastern side it is the center of the Cultura Chavin which developed between 1200 and 200 BC by which it is considered the origin of all cultures of the Andes of Peru.The National Park Huascaran owns large wealth of flora and fauna. Thanks to the study carried out by Dr David Smith in the high flora, it is stated the existence of 104 families, 340 genders and 779 species standing out the Puya Raymondi that owns the highest inflorescence of the plant kingdom, that coexists simultaneously with the varied fauna, being able to say with  accuracy the existence of 111 species of birds and 13 of mammals, complemented by important archaeological remains of different periods, dispersed in the different ecological levels at the same time you can appreciate cave painting, systems of andenería, roads, chullpas, tumbs, fortifications and others. The Cordillera Blanca has 27 mountains that surpass 6000 m, the same way it has 30 peaks surpassing 5500 meters above sea level originating 663 glaciers, 269 lakes, 22 thermal springs, 41 rivers in 3 hydrographic basins; offering several trekking circuits with changeable duration and ascent to snow-capped mountains with diverse degrees of difficulty. The Cordillera Blanca and Huayhuash are true jewels of the Andes
